Brief

Why make the jump to a clear lens? What are the advantages or disadvantages of such a change? Well, for me it was a desired cosmetic change and I wasn't too worried about how they compared to the stock bulbs regarding brightness or legality. Although most of Clear Alternative's clear tail lights are actually DOT approved and perfectly legal, there are a few options that may not be street legal. Still I feel that visual performance is as good as or better than stock red lenses.

Details

When I first received my lens from the guys at Clear Alternatives, regular incandescent bulbs were the only option. Their setup for my bike contained actual red inserts and still used the regular stock bulbs. The install on the unit was pretty simple albeit a little time consuming as I had to remove both rear plastics and a lot of the mounting hardware Honda used to mount the stock lens. The unit came in one piece so it was a direct replacement for b stock lens. After getting everything back together, I was very impressed with the look ad brightness of the lights and my fellow riders assured me that they had no trouble seeing the lights even in the brightest of or summer days.

A short time later, clear alternatives began releasing version of their already popular lenses fitted with LED's. Of course, I had to check them out. Although you can purchase the kits that already contain the LED's, you can also purchase just the LED's and install them our self, or for just the price of shipping, you can send them back your lens and they will install and return it to you ready for install. Installing them yourself is a pretty simple task. Most lenses don't require a lot of work and only require a bulb change. But in sealed units like mine, you need only a warm pale of water, a hot glue gun and about 10 minutes.
